A terrorist has been killed by security forces in Sopore town of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The encounter took place in Rampora area of Sopore, where security forces launched a joint operation based on a specific information regarding the presence of terrorists.
Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed the encounter in a tweet and said there was an exchange of fire with terrorists during a search operation. However, further details regarding the outcome of the operation and the identity of the terrorist are awaited.
A senior police officer, on condition of anonymity, told news agency PTI that a terrorist has been killed in this operation, while his identity and links with the terrorist organization are being ascertained.
The incident came just after another operation on Friday in which security forces had killed two terrorists.
Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted that two terrorists were killed during an encounter with terrorists in Panipora, an area of Sopore.
Police said that arms, ammunition and other objectionable materials have been recovered from the terrorists.
The Indian Army also gave information about this operation and said that on 7 November 2024, after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in Sopore, Kashmir, the Army and Police launched a joint operation.
The army said the security forces retaliated effectively when challenged by the terrorists.
