A cargo plane of Germany’s DHL company, which provides parcel and courier services, crashed. According to the information, this incident happened on 25th November (Monday). This accident happened near the capital of Lithuania. The plane crashed on top of a house, one person is reported dead in this accident.
Three people on the plane survived this accident. LRT quoted officials as saying that two people were taken to hospital after the accident, while one was declared dead. This accident with the cargo plane happened on top of a two-storey house near the airport. There is also news of some people getting injured in the accident.
The Lithuanian Airport Authority identified the plane as a DHL cargo plane flying from Leipzig, Germany to Vilnius Airport. Fire service was provided at the spot immediately after the incident. Along with this, other emergency services were sent to the spot. Initial investigation has not yet revealed the reason for the plane’s crash.
Please note that the headquarters of DHL Group is located in Bonn, Germany. The company did not respond immediately after this incident. DHL’s aircraft are operated by Swiftair based in Madrid. It is being told that the plane which crashed was about 31 years old. Experts consider this type of aircraft to be an old structure. However, many cargo aircraft are even older.
Police Commissioner General Pojela gave information regarding this incident. He told that this plane fell at some distance from the airport. After the crash, the plane slid for about 100 meters. At the same time, some part of the plane hit a residential house, due to which some parts of the house caught fire. However, the people living in the house managed to escape immediately after this incident.
Some reports are claiming that flight-tracking data shows that the plane attempted a landing while turning north towards the airport before crashing about 1 mile short of the runway.
