Major terrorist attack on Pakistan’s Gwadar Port, all seven attackers killed; China’s dream project going on here…

There was a terrorist attack on Gwadar Port in Balochistan on Wednesday.

Seven gunmen have been killed by police and security forces. All these attackers forcibly entered the Gwadar Port Authority Complex and started firing.

During this time, sounds of explosion were also heard in the area. Gwadar Port is important for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which includes roads and energy projects worth billions of dollars and is also part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Gwadar Senior Superintendent of Police Captain (retd) Zohaib Mohsin told Pakistani media house Dawn.com that eight armed attackers were killed, but the count was later revised to seven.

Regarding the situation of the attack, he said that the firing has completely stopped. Makran Division Commissioner Saeed Ahmed Umrani confirmed the attack and said the attackers had entered the Gwadar port complex.

Sources said a large contingent of security forces responded to the attack and foiled an attempt by the attackers to enter the compound. While the operation was going on, the local police had cordoned off the area.

The Majeed Brigade of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attack. Let us inform you that after the banned terrorist organization Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022, Pakistan has seen an increase in terrorist activities in the last year, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

In November, 14 Pakistani Army soldiers were killed in an attack by terrorists on two vehicles of security forces in Gwadar. Military vehicles were attacked while moving from Pasni towards Ormara in the coastal district.

Pakistan witnessed 97 terrorist attacks in February, resulting in 87 deaths and 118 injuries, according to a security report released by the Center for Research and Security Studies last month.

It is noteworthy that in January, security forces had successfully foiled terrorist attacks in Mach and Kolpur areas of Balochistan in which more than 10 BLA attackers were killed.

The army’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), had reported that several terrorists, including suicide bombers, attacked the Mach and Kolpur complexes in Balochistan.
