Just a few months before the Maharashtra Assembly elections, a former Shiv Sena MP has given an ultimatum to the Bharatiya Janata Party.
There are reports that Anandrao Adsul has made it clear that if he is not made the Governor, he can approach the Supreme Court in the case of former MP Navneet Rana.
Adsul had earlier also claimed that he was offered the post of governor.
Adsul on Tuesday warned the BJP that if he was not made governor within 15 days, he would file a curative petition in the Supreme Court in Rana’s caste certificate case.
The special thing is that in April itself, the apex court had rejected the order of the Bombay High Court, which said that his Scheduled Caste i.e. SC certificate should be cancelled.
According to the report, Adsul said, ‘Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had assured me that I would be appointed as the Governor. Union Home Minister Amit Shah also assured me, but no promise was fulfilled. I cannot wait forever. I will wait for the next 15 days, but after that I will go to the Supreme Court and file a curative petition against Navneet Rana’s caste certificate.’
According to the newspaper, Adsul had claimed in May that Amit Shah had promised him the post of governor in exchange for giving up his claim on the Amravati seat.
The special thing is that Adsul has won the Amravati seat twice. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had fielded Rana from this seat.
Adsul, who gave up claim on the seat, said the BJP had promised two Union ministerial posts and two governor posts to the Shiv Sena, but none of them were fulfilled.
He had alleged that Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Fadnavis had also written a letter, recommending his appointment as Governor.
He claimed that the letter was sent to the top leadership of the BJP but was ignored. This time he said, ‘It has been 25 months since Fadnavis promised and more than two and a half months since Amit Shah promised…. Now I will not wait any longer.’
