Maldives recalled High Commissioner from Pakistan – NNSP

Male . Maldives has recalled its High Commissioner Mohammad Toha present in Pakistan. Toha had met Taliban diplomat Sardar Ahmed Shakib in Islamabad without the knowledge of Maldives. During this, Afghanistan-Maldives relations were discussed between the two leaders. The Foreign Ministry of Maldives said that they had not given permission to their High Commissioner for this meeting. For this reason the government has decided to recall him. Toha’s name has also been removed from the website of Maldives Mission in Islamabad. According to local media reports of Maldives, Toha was sent to Pakistan as High Commissioner in July this year. The government of Maldives has said that it will take action against Toha. Taliban trying to build diplomatic relations with Central Asian countries Since the return of Taliban to Afghanistan in 2021, no country has yet recognized its government. However, the Taliban, which has been in power in Afghanistan for three years, is trying to establish diplomatic relations with many countries. Many Central Asian countries like Pakistan, China, Russia and Iran have initiated diplomatic relations with Afghanistan. The embassies of all western countries are still locked in Kabul. Maldives, the smallest Islamic country in South Asia, has not yet recognized the power of Taliban.
