New Delhi. Doctors are on strike for the last 38 days in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital. Patients are not being treated properly. In such a situation, about 30 patients have died. Seeing the deteriorating situation, the Chief Minister of the state Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with them and agreed to 99 percent of their demands. Meaning Mamata has agreed, but no one knows when the doctors, who are called God on earth, will agree.
More than 30 patients have lost their lives due to the doctors’ strike, but even after talking to Mamata, the doctors are not in a mood to end the strike. Talks were held between Mamata Banerjee and 30 doctors on Monday evening. After meeting the doctors, Mamata accepted three out of five demands of the doctors. She agreed to remove two top officers of the health department and Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal. Along with this, the police chief of the city’s northern region, where RG Kar Hospital is located, was also removed. But the movement is still not over. The doctors of RG Kar Hospital have been on strike for the last 38 days. Even after talking to Mamata Banerjee, the doctors have not ended the strike. Resident doctors say that until the dismissed officers are not completely removed from their posts, they will not end their protest. Doctors are also demanding the removal of the Principal Secretary. It is expected that they will take their decision on Tuesday i.e. today. It is being told that these doctors are also waiting for the hearing in the Supreme Court today. Perhaps we will take our decision even after this. There is a hearing on the RG Kar case in the Supreme Court today. The Supreme Court has also asked the doctors to end the strike.
This meeting took place after the doctors agreed to meet the Chief Minister. The doctors had put a condition that two of their professional transcript writers would also be present in the meeting. A police pilot vehicle carrying about 30 doctors reached Mamata Banerjee’s residence at 6.20 pm. While this meeting was to be held at 5 pm. This meeting, which lasted for about 2 hours, ended at 8:45 pm. Let us tell you that patients are getting upset due to the strike in RG Kar Hospital. Dozens of people have died due to lack of treatment. Meanwhile, doctors say that all their demands have not been met yet. In the RG Kar Hospital case of Kolkata, the agitating doctors said after meeting Mamata Banerjee that the work stoppage and protest will continue till the demands are met. Another doctor said that the removal of Kolkata Police Commissioner Vineet Goyal is our moral victory. Till the promises made by the Chief Minister are not fulfilled, we will stop our work and continue the protest at Swasthya Bhavan (Health Department Headquarters). We are also waiting for the Supreme Court hearing on the RG Kar rape-murder case on Tuesday. We will hold a meeting after the hearing and decide on our ‘work stoppage’ and protest.
