Mumbai All the states across the country including Maharashtra do not have the staff of drug inspectors to check medicines. There are not enough laboratories to test drugs and cosmetics. State governments never increased the posts of drug inspectors. The posts which were sanctioned 30 years ago. No new recruitment was made after his retirement. Due to which the sanctioned number of drug inspectors is not available in any state three decades ago. Due to which inspection of medicines and drug shops is not possible.
There are 200 drug inspector posts sanctioned in Maharashtra. Out of these, 120 posts are lying vacant. The drug inspectors who retired. After that they were not filled at all. This is the situation in almost all the states. The pharmaceutical business and the number of hospitals continued to grow. The central and state governments have left patients at the mercy of pharmaceutical companies regarding the quality and sale of medicines.
After the entire business of fake medicines came to light, the process of filling the vacant posts of Drug Inspector is being started by the states. In the states like Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat etc., one drug inspector has been given the charge of several districts. Due to which neither are they able to check the medicines sold in the medicine shops. Nor are the medicines supplied in hospitals being tested. This can only be said in view of the current situation. The patients trust God. The central and state governments are not concerned about their citizens.
