Mumbai . Mumbai Police has detained a minor in connection with false bomb threats received by airlines. As part of the investigation, the father of the accused minor is also being interrogated. According to the police, the bomb threat messages were posted from Rajnandgaon in Chhattisgarh. Apart from Mumbai Police, Delhi Police has also registered FIR in these cases.
According to the police, the minor had a fight with his friend over some money. The friend was reluctant to pay the money. To take revenge, the minor created a fake social media account in the name of his friend. Then through this account, threatening messages were sent to bomb the flights.
In fact, four flights flying from Mumbai were threatened with bombs on Monday (October 14). Indigo’s Mumbai-Muscat, Mumbai-Jeddah and Air India’s Mumbai-New York flights were threatened with bombs. At the same time, after the bomb threat, the respective airlines had canceled their respective flights. Of these, 3 were international flights. While as a precautionary measure, 2 flights were delayed and 1 flight was cancelled.
In this case, Mumbai Police registered an FIR and raided Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh. According to the information, a special 5-member team of Mumbai Police had interrogated the businessman’s 17-year-old son for several hours late at night. After this the minor and his father were summoned to Mumbai for questioning. After interrogation the minor was taken into custody. The minor had left his studies in school itself.
According to the police, the minor had made at least 12 fake calls. Of these, 4 calls were made on Monday. Police have registered a total of 3 FIRs in this case. The minor has been detained in connection with the first FIR. This FIR was registered on Monday after receiving a threat to bomb the flights.
Earlier on Tuesday, Indigo’s Mumbai-Delhi (6E 651) flight had received a bomb threat. After which the flight had to be called back to Delhi after takeoff. Akasa Airlines’ Delhi-Bengaluru flight (QP 1335) was diverted to Ahmedabad. Apart from this, two SpiceJet flights also received bomb threat, after which all the passengers were evacuated safely. On Tuesday, Air India Express flight from Delhi to Chicago also received a bomb threat. After which the flight was diverted to Canada and landed at Iqaluit Airport. However, during investigation, the news of bombs in these flights was found to be false.
