His statements in America are making a lot of headlines in India. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attacking him over his statements.
During a program in America, Rahul Gandhi has accused China of grabbing land equal to Delhi in Ladakh. He has also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not able to deal with China properly.
Speaking at the National Press Club in Washington DC on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi said, “Chinese troops have occupied land the size of Delhi in Ladakh and I think it is a disaster. The media does not like to write about it. How would the US react if a neighbour occupied 4,000 square kilometres of its territory? Would any president get away with saying he handled it well? So, I don’t think Narendra Modi has handled China well at all. I see no reason why Chinese troops should be sitting in our territory. It is a disaster.”
Let us tell you that last year also, making a similar allegation, the Congress leader had accused Prime Minister Modi of lying to the opposition on the situation of the India-China border in Ladakh.
He had reiterated that China had taken away Indian territory.
