Former US President and Republican Party presidential candidate Donald Trump recently praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi once again.
Trump called PM Modi his ‘friend’ and ‘the best person’.
Trump made this statement during the Flagrant Podcast while discussing his views about world leaders. Trump said, “Modi of (India), he is my friend and a great person. India was quite unstable before he became Prime Minister. From outside he looks like your father. He is the nicest human being and a very strong leader.”
In his conversation, Trump also recalled the ‘Howdy, Modi’ event organized in Houston, Texas in 2019. The Indian-American community participated in this program in large numbers.
Trump said, “He did an event called ‘Howdy, Modi’ in Houston, Texas. Modi and I were there and that program was wonderful. There were about 80,000 people there and the sight was amazing. Today I might not be able to do anything like this.”
Trump mentioned his strong relationship with PM Modi and recalled a conversation that took place during the tense situation between India and Pakistan.
Without naming Pakistan, he said, “On some occasions someone was threatening India, and I told Modi, let me help because I am very good at it. But Modi responded aggressively and said.. ‘I will handle it and will do anything if needed. We have defeated them for hundreds of years. I thought, wow, what’s going on here.”
There are close relations between Trump and PM Modi. While Modi calls Trump a ‘true friend’, Trump also praises PM Modi’s leadership and personality.
During his tenure as President, Donald Trump visited India and participated in the ‘Namaste Trump’ event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
More than 1 lakh people participated in this program, which is considered to be the largest rally organized by the US President outside the country.
Recently, Donald Trump described PM Modi as a ‘wonderful person’ and had said that he would meet PM Modi during his Quad Summit visit, however, this meeting did not take place.
