Muizzu hit the ax on his own feet, after becoming the President of Maldives, he was confirmed to visit India…

After the ongoing dispute with India, Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu seems to be in serious trouble.

Since becoming the President, he has been messing with India. First they vowed to oust the Indian Army and now their minister’s objectionable comment on PM Modi is increasing their problems.

As a result, not only is it getting worse all over the world, tourism is also getting hit hard. Indians are boycotting Maldives and turning to local beaches.

Many celebrities have also come in its favor. Meanwhile, information has come to light that the Maldives government had proposed Mohammed Muizzu’s visit to India after assuming the post of President, but Muizzu postponed it and after Turkey-UAE went to China.

However, now his visit to India seems very difficult considering the current circumstances.

People familiar with the matter said on Tuesday that Muizzu’s visit to India could not go ahead due to strained relations. However, now after Muizzu’s visit to China, traveling to India has become even more impossible.

Relations between India and Maldives, which were already at an all-time low before Muizzu announced the withdrawal of Indian Army, have now further deteriorated after the Maldivian minister made controversial remarks on PM Modi last week. . However, Muizzu has distanced himself from the minister’s statement and suspended three ministers.

One person, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Maldives government had proposed the President’s visit to India soon after Muizzu took charge in November last year.

However, at that time the atmosphere was already soured by Muizzu’s party’s anti-India campaign during the presidential elections and his demand for withdrawal of Indian military personnel from Maldives.

Sources say, “Such visits cannot be scheduled so quickly when bilateral relations are tense.” “After the President’s visit to China, a visit to India looks even more unlikely.”

After Muizzu’s meeting with Xi Jinping, the Chinese media added fuel to the fire. Tried to take advantage of the tension between India and Maldives.

While advising India to have a big heart, China said that there is an equal relationship between it and Maldives. He never advised Maldives to stay away from India.

Muijju hit the ax on his leg

After becoming President, Muizzu had reiterated his demand for the return of about 77 Indian military personnel in his meeting with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Rijiju had represented the Government of India at the coronation of Muizzu. Subsequently, Muizzu visited Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), breaking the tradition of Maldivian Presidents making the first foreign visit to India.

Ministers completed the remaining work
The rest of this controversy was further completed when last week many leaders of Maldives including ministers of Muizzoo government made objectionable comments on social media after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Lakshadweep.

Maldivian leaders accused PM Modi of presenting Lakshadweep as a rival of Maldives.

The Maldivian government however distanced itself from the derogatory comments and suspended Malsha Sharif, Maryam Shiuna and Abdulla Mahzoom Majeed.

India had also summoned the Maldives’ envoy to the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi to express its strong concern over the derogatory comments.

Muijju seeking help from China in tourism
After the dispute with India, the condition of the Muizzu government has become so bad that a large number of Indians have canceled their holiday plans in Maldives. Boycott Maldives trend is going on in India.

In such a situation, Muijju has sought help from the Chinese government. Said that he should help in keeping tourism in Maldives on track.

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism of Maldives, the largest number of foreign tourists arriving in Maldives in 2022 and 2023 were Indians. A total of 240,000 Indians visited Maldives in 2022, followed by 198,000 Russians and 177,000 British nationals. In 2023, a total of 209,198 Indians visited the archipelago, followed by 209,146 Russians and 187,118 Chinese nationals.
