Vikas Yadav, accused of trying to murder Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu in America, has filed an application in Delhi court asking that he be exempted from appearing in the hearing.
He says that all his details have come out so there is a threat to his life. The court has given him exemption and ordered him to appear on February 3.
On 18 December 23, Vikas Yadav was arrested by Delhi Police in the case of extortion and kidnapping.
Even before that, the US Department of Justice had named Vikas Yadav as a conspirator involved in Pannu’s murder.
Vikas Yadav was released from jail on bail in April 2014. After this, on October 18, the FBI declared him wanted.
It was alleged that Vikas Yadav was appointed by the Cabinet Secretariat of the Government of India, which is part of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs has said that Vikas Yadav is no longer an employee of the Government of India. In a two-page application presented in the court on behalf of RK Handu, Vikas Yadav said that Delhi Police has filed a false case against him.
He said that his photograph, home address and other pictures have also now become public. In such a situation, they are in danger in public places.
His life is at stake. He said that due to threat to his life, he cannot attend the hearing even through video conferencing because his location can be tracked.
Yadav’s application was listed before the court on Saturday. This time, the court exempted him from appearing in the hearing and said that he will have to appear in the next hearing.
The next hearing of the case is to be held on February 3. Let us tell you that a businessman resident of Rohini had lodged a complaint that Vikas Yadav has connections with Lawrence Bishnoi gang and is involved in extortion and kidnapping.
After this, Yadav and his associate Abdullah Khan were arrested by the police. Chargesheet was filed against him in Delhi Court on 13 March.
Yadav got interim bail on 22 March and then got full bail on 22 April.
