Competitions begin for state level team selection
Selected participants will represent the state
National Ekalavya Vidyalaya Sports Festival 2023-24 is to be organized in Mysore (Karnataka) from January 8 to January 12.
With the start of the competition to select the state level team to participate in the National Sports Festival, the selection of players has also started. Players selected through state level competition will represent the state in the National Sports Festival.
Commissioner and ex-officio Secretary, Chhattisgarh State Level Tribal Welfare, Residential and Ashram Educational Institutions Committee, Smt. Shammi Abidi has issued necessary guidelines to the concerned officials regarding the National Eklavya Vidyalaya Sports Festival.
It is noteworthy that as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India, competitions are to be organized in 10 sports disciplines – Archery, Athletics, Yoga, Basketball, Football, Handball, Hockey, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho and Volleyball.
These include individual sports competitions in archery, athletics and yoga, while group competitions will be held in the remaining sports. The state level selection competition has started from 13th December and will continue till 16th December.
On the first day of the competition, on 13 December, a yoga competition was organized and excellent participants were selected, while on the second day of the competition, on 14 December, a competition of volleyball, kho-kho and archery was organized.
Under the individual sports competition, a selection competition of Yoga was organized for Under-14 and Under-19 boys and girls category in Raipur on 13th December.
In the Under-14 girls category, Kumari Ranirana of Dantewada district got the first position, Kumari Aanksha of Surguja district got the second position and Kumari Urmila got the third position.
In the same age group, Mahendra of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district got the first position, Pramod of Mahasamund district got the second position and Divas Bhoi of Surguja district got the third position.
In the Under-19 girls category, Kumar Manisha of Mahasamund district got first position, Kumari Dolly got second position and Kumari Durga got third position. In the boys category of the same age, Vinay from Mahasamund district stood first, Yashwant from Surguja district stood second and Himanshu from Bastar district stood third.
Final team of volleyball, kho-kho and archery selected
Today in Raipur, under the group sports competition, matches were conducted among the students from Eklavya residential schools of the state in the volleyball selection competition and the final team was formed by selecting 15-15 excellent students.
Under the Kho-Kho selection competition, boys and girls teams were selected from among the students from Eklavya schools of the state. Similarly, archery competition was organized at Eklavya Residential School, Bhoring Mahasamund, out of which excellent boy and girl participants were selected.
Selection competition for football and athletics will be organized on 15th December, the third day of the state level competition.
