Araria. A bridge has been built in a field in Araria, Bihar. There is no river flowing under the bridge nor is there a road to reach the bridge. Regarding the bridge, the villagers allege that the work done in it is not of good quality. After getting information about the matter, DM Inayat Khan has ordered an investigation. An amount of about three crores has been spent in the construction of the road and the bridge. He has said that the people of the department are being sent to the place where the bridge was constructed. After investigation, the report will be submitted to me and if anyone is found guilty in this, action will be taken against him. This bridge has been constructed by the Rural Works Department in the middle of the Bahiyar in Ward No. 6 of Paramanpur Panchayat of Raniganj block of the district. The bridge has become an object of beauty for the villagers.
Instead of building a bridge on the river after spending lakhs of rupees, the contractor and the department have built a bridge in the middle of a field. The villagers say that the bridge was built about 6 months ago and that too on private land. There is no river at the place where the bridge has been built, in fact the river is far from that place. The villagers said that the bridge was built at this place with the connivance of some middlemen and it has not been connected to the road, nor has an approach been built. The bridge is of no use to them.
