Nepal’s miraculous Buddha boy arrested, accused of raping a minor; Was absconding for many days…

Nepal Police has arrested the miraculous Buddha Boy for alleged rape of a minor girl.

He was absconding for several days. Nepal Police on Wednesday said they have arrested a spiritual leader on charges of kidnapping and rape of people at his ashram. Followers of the accused consider him to be an incarnation of Buddha.

Nepal Police has identified the accused as Ram Bahadur Bomjan. He is known as “Buddha Boy” among devotees.

Ram Bahadur Kishore became famous when followers claimed that he could meditate in one place for months without water, food or sleep.

33-year-old Ram Bahadur has a huge following in Nepal. At present, he is accused of physically and sexually harassing his followers for a long time. It is being told that he was absconding for many years.

“He was arrested after being on the run for several years,” Nepal police spokesman Kuber Kadayat told AFP.

Police arrested Bomjan in Kathmandu on a warrant issued for allegedly raping a minor at an ashram in Sarlahi district, south of the capital.

They said he was caught with bundles of cash worth 30 million Nepalese rupees ($225,000) and foreign currency worth $22,500.

The allegations of abuse and misconduct against Ram Bahadur go back more than a decade. Dozens of assault complaints were filed against Bomjan in 2010. He said he also beat the victim girls because they interrupted his meditation.

Raped in 2018
The 18-year-old nun accused the guru of raping her at a monastery in 2018.

The police launched another investigation against him the following year when family members reported four of his devotees missing from one of his ashrams.

Dinesh Acharya of the Central Bureau of Investigation told reporters on Wednesday that the whereabouts of the four are still unknown. “Until we know the condition of the missing people, we are not in a position to call it murder,” he said.

Before his escape, Bomjan still had a large number of followers, although the allegations against him were increasing. It is noteworthy that at one time thousands of people used to gather inside the forest to see his miracles.

At the age of 16, Bomjan disappeared for nine months to wander in the jungles of eastern Nepal, after which Buddhist monks kept a round-the-clock vigil and prayed for his safe return.
