Brisbane. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar formally inaugurated the new Indian Consulate in Brisbane, Australia. The External Affairs Minister said on social media platform X, ‘Delighted to formally inaugurate the new Consulate General of India in Brisbane today. It will contribute to strengthening India’s ties with the state of Queensland, promote trade, foster educational ties and serve the expatriate community.
He said, ‘Thank you to Queensland Governor Dr. Jeanette Young and Ministers Ross Bates and Fiona Simpson for attending the inauguration ceremony. Jaishankar later held a meeting with Queensland Governor Jeanette Young and discussed strengthening economic and trade cooperation with India. He said, ‘Pleased to meet Queensland Governor Dr. Jeanette Young in Brisbane today. Discussed opportunities and ways to strengthen economic, trade and investment cooperation with the state of Queensland. During this, the Foreign Minister also paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.
