There is a stir in the entire country regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Many political parties including Congress, Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal are expressing concern about this. Some people have once again tried to incite sentiments by calling it against Muslims.
But this time the government is acting cautiously compared to 2020. Modi government is now repeatedly talking about the suffering Hindus regarding this law and no mention is being made of NRC.
Regarding which it was being said that CAA will be linked to NRC and people from Muslim and Christian communities who do not have valid documents will be excluded or their rights will be in danger.
While trying to answer all such discussions, the government is now not making any mention of NRC. The government believes that if NRC is not mentioned, it will remove the fear of Muslims.
Under CAA, persecuted Hindus of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh will get citizenship. Apart from this, a discussion was also going on for many years that by linking this law with NRC, those Muslims who do not have valid documents of citizenship will be excluded.
In such a situation, there was huge opposition to it. Roads were blocked in Delhi’s Jamia Nagar for almost a year. Apart from this, big demonstrations were held in many parts of the country.
Actually, one reason for this confusion was Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement in 2019. In this he had said that NRC and CAA will be combined. After this, Muslim groups and their supporters started the movement. But now the government’s stand seems to have changed.
In Hyderabad on Tuesday, Amit Shah said that there is no provision to withdraw anyone’s citizenship in the new CAA law. Apart from this, the Press Information Bureau of the government has also posted several times in a row, in which it has been said that Indian Muslims will not be in any danger from this law.
At the same time, PM Narendra Modi has been reiterating ever since this law was passed in December 2019 that no one’s citizenship will be in danger due to this.
He had said in a rally in December 2019 itself that NRC has not been brought by our government. It was the Congress government in Assam that brought it. Not only this, he had said that talking about taking away someone’s citizenship is childish.
