Iran has further increased tensions in the already turbulent Middle East by directly attacking Israel last week.
Israel is burning with the fire of revenge and can launch a major attack on Iran at any time. If reports are to be believed, Israel is planning to target Iran’s oil facilities.
At the same time, America is making unsuccessful efforts to calm the situation. In this series, US President Joe Biden spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said on Wednesday that Israel’s attack against Iran will be deadly, precise and surprising.
The conversation, confirmed by both countries, was the first between Biden and Netanyahu since August. This conversation has come at a time when the intensity of the war between Israel, Iran and Iran-backed Hezbollah has increased more than before.
There are no signs of ceasefire visible. According to reports, Kamala Harris also participated in this conversation along with Biden and Netanyahu.
Over the past few days, there have been reports that relations between Biden and Netanyahu have been strained. Tensions have risen over Israel’s handling of the war in Gaza and the conflict with Hezbollah.
Journalist Bob Woodward reports in his book “War,” to be published next week, that Biden regularly accused Netanyahu of having no strategy and even shouted at him after Israeli attacks near Beirut and in Iran in July. Biden had said, “Bibi, what the hell?”
America is in trouble
A US official familiar with past conversations between the two leaders said Biden has used sharp, direct, unfiltered language with and about Netanyahu during his time in office.
Tensions have risen in recent weeks as U.S. officials repeatedly learned late about Israeli actions, according to a person familiar with the matter.
These include the assassination by Israel of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and the explosion of pagers and walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members in Lebanon, which Israel has neither confirmed nor denied.
Biden has faced sharp criticism from other countries around the world as well as members of his own Democratic Party due to the inability of the US, as Israel’s main arms supplier, to stop Netanyahu’s attacks.
‘They won’t even understand…’
After declaring Iran’s October 1 missile attack a failure, Israeli Defense Minister Galant said in a video released by his office, “Whoever attacks us will be deeply hurt and will have to pay the price.” Our attack will be lethal, precise and surprising.
They won’t be able to understand what happened and how it happened, they will just see the devastation.” Meanwhile, Netanyahu has vowed that enemy Iran will pay the price of its missile attack. Iran has said that any retaliation would lead to destruction.
Israel will not stop
Last Friday, Biden said that if he were Israel he would consider options for attacking Iranian oil fields.
He said he thinks Israel has not yet decided how to respond to Iran. Last week he also said that he would not support Israel in attacking Iran’s nuclear sites.
The US and other allies are pressuring Israel to accept a ceasefire deal in Gaza and Lebanon but Israel has said it will continue military operations until Israelis are safe.
