Sultanpur. The MP-MLA court of Sultanpur has issued a non-bailable warrant against Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. This warrant has been issued in a 23-year-old case. Now the next hearing of this case will be on August 20. After the warrant is issued, Sanjay Singh will now have to appear in court.
The court has ordered to issue arrest warrants against five convicts including Sanjay Singh and former SP MLA Anup Sanda. After the appeal of all the convicts was rejected by the Special Sessions Court, all of them had to surrender in the concerned court. However, no one has surrendered till now. These people were constantly asking for a chance from the court, but the court did not consider it appropriate to give any chance this time.
The MP-MLA Special Magistrate Court had convicted six accused including Rajya Sabha MP and national spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party Sanjay Singh, former SP MLA Anoop Sanda about one and a half years ago and sentenced all of them to three months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1500 each. The appeal of one convict in this case is still pending, while the appeal of the remaining five convicts has been rejected.
About 23 years ago in Sultanpur, Sub Inspector Ashok Singh posted in Kotwali Nagar had filed a case on 19 June 2001 against all these people for blocking the road and staging dharna in protest against electricity, water and other problems. Police had filed chargesheet against Sanjay Singh, former MLA Anoop Sanda, former councilor Kamal Shrivastava, current nominated councilor Vijay, former spokesperson of Congress Santosh Kumar, former city president of BJP Subhash Chaudhary and Prem Prakash. Now the next hearing of this case will be on 20 August.
