Mumbai . The traffic problems of Mumbaikars will be reduced to a great extent due to the Bow-String Bridge connecting the Coastal Road directly to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Traffic will be opened on a part of this bridge on 13 September. Earlier, the journey from Marine Drive to Bandra used to take 45-60 minutes. But now due to the Bow-String Bridge, the travel time is expected to be reduced to 15-20 minutes. At the same time, the distance from South Bombay to the airport can be covered in half an hour through this bridge.
Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis inspected the Bow-String Bridge on Thursday. According to reports, vehicles going from South Bombay towards Bandra can enter the sea link directly from this bridge between 7 am and 11 pm on Friday. However, until the Bow String Bridge is fully connected to the sea link, vehicles going towards the south will have to continue using the regular route.
This is the fourth opening on the Coastal Road. The Bow String Bridge project will cost more than Rs 14 thousand crores. The purpose of this bridge is to remove traffic jams from Mumbai’s roads and improve people’s experience. The south side of the Coastal Road was opened from Worli to Marine Drive on March 11.
The north side section was opened from Marine Drive to Haji Ali on June 10. The section from Haji Ali to Worli became operational on July 11. Now the fourth section is going to open on Friday.
