New Delhi. The Indian Army used BMP-2 for the first time in the operation conducted against terrorists in Asan area of Sunderbani sector of Jammu, which was an important and strategic step. During the operation, the army used the BMP to protect the troops, while the cannons attached to it were not used.
Actually BMP is an Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV), whose main purpose is to transport troops, whereas tanks are Armored Fighting Vehicles (AFV).
