One Rank One Pension Scheme completes ten years, lakhs of pensioners benefited

New Delhi. Today, 10 years ago, the Central Government took a historic step and implemented the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, which proved to be a great relief for the ex-servicemen of the Indian Armed Forces and their families. Under this scheme, soldiers with the same rank and same length of service get the same pension regardless of their retirement date. Remembering this day, PM Narendra Modi wrote in a post on social media – in which he described OROP as a symbol of the government’s gratitude and respect towards the Indian military forces.
PM Modi said that implementing One Rank One Pension was an important step to pay tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our veterans and ex-servicemen. This decision was a step towards showing our gratitude to our army personnel and fulfilling the pending demands. Lakhs of pensioners have benefited from this in the last decade, which is a testimony to the commitment of our government.
He further said that through OROP, the pension of ex-servicemen of the armed forces has been improved and this step has also improved their financial condition. He also said that the government will always be committed to the welfare of the armed forces and will make every possible effort.
At the same time, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also thanked PM Modi for the implementation of OROP, calling this day an important day. He said that OROP is an important pillar of PM Modi’s policy towards the armed forces. With its implementation, more than 25 lakh ex-servicemen have benefited and their socio-economic condition has improved.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also made a post on social media on the 10th anniversary of OROP in which he called the reform a revolutionary step. He said OROP ensured that all soldiers with the same rank and length of service get the same pension, irrespective of their retirement date. This reform has benefited more than 25 lakh armed forces pensioners and their families. He also said that more than Rs 1.25 lakh crore has been spent on OROP so far. Additionally, the pension under OROP is reset every five years, further strengthening the government’s commitment to our heroes. The implementation of One Rank One Pension shows the seriousness and sensitivity of the government towards our ex-servicemen.
