Veteran Congress Party leader and MP P Chidambaram has praised the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.
He has said that if this government has to implement something, it does it very well. I accept this.

However, he has expressed opposition on all other issues. Chidambaram claimed on Saturday that fear dominates the entire country and this situation is the exact opposite of democracy.
The Congress leader said that in the last more than a year, he has not found a single person in the country who is not free from fear.
He said, “Wherever I went in the last 18 months, whoever I talked to, I found that their thinking was dominated by fear.” Fear dominates their entire existence and I tell them those lines of Tagore… where thought is free from fear.” He said, ”But show me even one person who can say that my mind is free from fear, I can do something. I can also say, I can write anything, I can do anything that does not violate the law.
He presented his new book ‘The Watershed Year-Which Way Will India Go?’ at the ‘APJ Kolkata Literary Festival’-2024 at Allen Park, Kolkata on Saturday evening. But said this during the discussion.
The Congress Rajya Sabha member said that no businessman, lawyer, doctor or anyone associated with small scale industries told him that he can say whatever he wants and make any film.
The former Union Finance Minister said, “Fear is dominant in India and it is contrary to democracy. Where thought is free from fear, there is democracy.
