In the current season of paddy procurement at support price, paddy will be procured from farmers tomorrow on Sunday, 4th February.
Food Department officials said that tomorrow, February 4, is the last day for purchasing paddy at support price. Despite this day being Sunday, the purchase of paddy in the procurement centers will be like normal days.
It is noteworthy that Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai had given instructions to extend the period of paddy procurement till February 4, 2024 in the interest of the farmers of the state.
Food Department officials said that so far the state government has purchased a record 144.67 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers at support price.
In lieu of paddy procurement, an amount of more than Rs 30 thousand 68 crore has been paid to the farmers through the bank.
According to the information received from the General Manager of Markfed, till now 144 lakh 67 thousand 644 metric tonnes of paddy has been purchased from 24 lakh 70 thousand 612 farmers in the state till 03 February 2024 at support price.
Along with paddy procurement, continuous lifting of paddy is going on for custom milling.
Till now, DO has been issued for lifting of 104 lakh 68 thousand 668 metric tons of paddy, against which 96 lakh 98 thousand 715 metric tons of paddy has been lifted by the millers.
