Pakistan has once again violated the ceasefire.
It is reported that on Wednesday the Pakistani army opened fire without any reason. A BSF (Border Security Force) soldier was injured in this incident.
However, Indian soldiers also responded to this audacity of Pakistan and opened fire. At present, it is not clear whether there have been any casualties across the border or not.
At about 02:35 am, unprovoked firing was resorted to from across the border in Akhnoor area, a BSF spokesperson said here on Wednesday morning.
He said that the BSF gave a befitting reply to the firing. He informed that the soldiers have been put on high alert and strict vigil is being maintained near the international border and LoC i.e. Line of Control.
Last year also a life was taken
The ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan was renewed on 25 February 2021.
However, last year itself a BSF jawan lost his life in firing by Pakistani Rangers in Ramgarh sector. The special thing is that the ceasefire violation has happened at a time when assembly elections are scheduled in Jammu and Kashmir.
The assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in three phases starting from September 18 and the polling in Akhnoor sector of Jammu district will be held on October 01.
The second phase of elections will be held on September 25 and the counting of votes will take place on October 08. The special thing is that assembly elections are going to be held in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in more than a decade.
The relations between the two countries had become sour after the Pulwama attack and the removal of Article 370.
