Islamabad. Pakistan has tested 155 mm truck-mounted howitzers and other weapons near the LoC. These guns have been procured from China and India has expressed concern about their deployment. In this regard, information has been received that Pakistan is strengthening its defense relations with Gulf countries, Western Europe and Türkiye.
Movement of 155 mm truck-mounted howitzers spotted along LoC
According to Pakistani officials, movement of 155 mm truck-mounted howitzers, which have been developed with the help of a Chinese defense company and a Gulf country, was spotted along the LoC. These guns are believed to be a variant of the SH-15, known for their shoot and scot capability. The range of these howitzers is up to 30 kilometers and they can fire 6 rounds in a minute. Apart from this, Pakistan also tested the advanced M109 cannon, which has a range of 24 kilometers and can fire 6 rounds in 40 seconds. Turkey plays an important role in enhancing Pakistan’s defense capabilities. Recent tests have involved 105 mm guns manufactured by Turkish defense company FNSS, capable of firing tank armor piercing and high caliber shells.
China is a major helper in increasing Pakistan’s military capability
China is a major contributor to Pakistan’s military capability. It has provided construction of bunkers, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), fighter planes and many advanced communication systems to Pakistan. Earlier this year, China’s North Industries Group Corporation Limited had handed over the second batch of 56 SH-15 howitzer guns to the Pakistan Army. In view of these circumstances, Indian defense officials have taken this military exercise of Pakistan seriously. These types of activities can not only increase instability in the region but also escalate tensions along the LoC.
