Lahore, the second largest city of Pakistan, often suffers from excessive pollution.
At present the air quality index here has reached close to 1900. The situation is such that due to increase in air pollution, people in Lahore have started suffering from many serious diseases including lung infection.
According to Swiss group IQAir and the government of Pakistani Punjab province, Lahore has been the most polluted city in the world.
This much pollution in this city situated near the border of India and Pakistan is a matter of concern. Meanwhile, Pakistan has tried to blame India for this increased pollution.
Aurangzeb, senior minister of the government of Pakistan’s Punjab province, said that the winds coming from India are responsible for this and pollution is increasing.
Aurangzeb said that this issue cannot be resolved without talks with India. He said that we will talk to the neighboring country through the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan. Actually, the kind of smog in Lahore is somewhat similar to Delhi-NCR.
Pollution is often seen before the onset of winter in many cities of North India including Delhi-NCR.
During these days the wind speed reduces and the weather is humid. Due to this, polluting elements accumulate in the air, which blow away when strong winds blow.
At present, emergency has been imposed in Lahore due to pollution. In many cities, primary schools have been closed.
Apart from this, employees have been ordered to work from home. Lahore administration has closed primary schools for a week.
Apart from this, children have been advised to wear masks. Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said that a deep blanket of smog is visible in the entire city.
He said that we have advised 50 percent of the employees to work from home to reduce vehicular pollution.
Apart from this, common people have been advised to stay indoors. They have been asked not to go out for non-essential work.
Smog counters have been asked to be made in all hospitals so that any emergency can be dealt with. Especially people who fall ill due to pollution will be provided treatment here.
