Tel Aviv. Israel has claimed that it has foiled a major Iranian plot. Shin Bet, the agency responsible for Israel’s internal security, has said that it has foiled Iran’s plot to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Shin Bet director Ronen Bar. Shin Bet made this big claim on Thursday. In this plot, Iran was using an Israeli businessman who had spent a lot of time in Turkey. He was holding meetings and transactions with both Turkish and Iranian individuals to plan the assassination in Israel.
According to the report, to execute the plan, in April this year, Turkish citizens Andrei Faruk Aslan and Gunid Aslan contacted the Israeli businessman and invited him to meet two representatives of a wealthy Iranian named Ezdi in the Turkish city of Samandag. This meeting took place in the month of May. He agreed to travel from Turkey to Iran by car, where he met Ezdi and a member of the Iranian security establishment named Haj. According to the report, the Israeli businessman initially asked for one million dollars before starting any activity.
The Israeli businessman then visited Iran for the second time in August and received 5,000 euros as part of the start of his financial, logistical and weapons-related work to complete the plot. During the second trip to Iran in August, the Israeli businessman was again brought to Iran from Turkey. The Israeli businessman was asked to take videos of some Israeli sites for the purpose of surveillance and intelligence gathering. During the second trip to Iran, the Israeli businessman was asked if he could involve Russians and Americans in this plan. These could be used against anti-Iran people living in Europe and America. Shin Bet said that it seems that Iran is working hard for such terrorist activities, this threat will not end with the disclosure of a plot. It was not clear from Shin Bet whether there was any coordination between Iran and Hezbollah regarding these conspiracies or not and how it was outlined. Shin Bet did not answer about the timing of this plan.
Shin Bet, the agency that claimed to have foiled the plot to assassinate Israel’s top leadership, is the intelligence agency responsible for Israel’s internal security matters. Its main job is to focus on internal security. This intelligence agency is like Mossad but works inside the country, while Mossad works outside Israel.
