An island is situated about 8000 kilometers south-east of India.
Its name is Borneo. Three countries are located on this Borneo island- Malaysia, Indonesia and Brunei. Brunei is the smallest Islamic country, with a population of about 4.5 lakh.
It is spread over a land area of just 5770 square kilometres and about two-thirds of its population is Muslim. The Malay language is spoken here.
Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah rules here. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on a visit to Brunei on 3rd and 4th September on his invitation.
Prime Minister Modi was given a grand welcome in Brunei. During the visit on September 3, PM Modi also visited the historic Ali Saifuddeen Mosque.
This mosque has a different significance in Muslim countries. The construction of this mosque was completed in 1958. This visit of PM Modi is being discussed a lot all over the world.
Even in the neighbouring country Pakistan, there is a heated debate on why PM Modi is visiting Muslim countries and why is he visiting mosques.
Pakistani scholars and experts are also surprised as to why PM Modi is constantly improving relations with Muslim countries, while Pakistan is still entangled in its internal problems.
Pakistani scholar Qamar Cheema spoke to Sajid Tarar, a US-based Pakistani politician, about PM Modi’s visit and India’s growing credibility and strength among countries around the world.
At the beginning of this conversation, Qamar Cheema asked Sajid Tarar and expressed surprise that PM Modi has increased his visits to Muslim countries at a rapid pace.
He also expressed surprise that the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) also has a station inside Brunei. Cheema also expressed surprise at how Pakistan lagged behind its neighbouring countries in building relations with Muslim countries. In response to this, Sajid Tarar said that India also buys oil from Brunei and is a major defense partner in the South China Sea.
He said that India is also preparing a counter to China with the help of Brunei. Tarar said that India is rapidly taking advantage of the vacuum created by America in the entire world.
He said that apart from Brunei, India has also signed four MoUs with Singapore. The biggest among these is an agreement related to semiconductors.
