Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak over telephone on Tuesday.

He himself gave this information through a post on social media platform X. PM Modi said that there was discussion on strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

The Prime Minister tweeted, ‘Had a good conversation with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. We discussed further strengthening the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership. Also reiterated its commitment to work for the early conclusion of a mutually beneficial free trade agreement.

It is known that the British PM is of Indian origin. A few days ago he had told that he had to face racism in his childhood.

He said that his parents sent him to extra drama classes so that he could speak as well as other children.

In 2022, Sunak made history when, after being elected the new leader of the ruling Conservative Party on Diwali, King Charles III made him the first person of Indian origin to be appointed Prime Minister of Britain.

Sunak, 43, a follower of Hinduism, is the youngest British Prime Minister in 210 years. He is also the first Hindu Prime Minister of Indian origin in Britain.

He said his parents were adamant that he should fit in with other children and speak well.

Chalo India campaign launched in London
The Indian High Commission in London, UK has launched two major campaigns ‘Chalo India’ and ‘Living Bridge’.

The Chalo India campaign is to promote tourism while the Living Bridge campaign is to celebrate the contribution of people of Indian origin to Britain.

The Chalo India Global Diaspora campaign was announced by Prime Minister Modi in Srinagar earlier this week to encourage members of the Indian community to visit tourist destinations in India with their non-Indian friends.

On this occasion, India’s High Commissioner to Britain Vikram Duraiswami said in his address at India House, ‘I think this is really an opportunity for you to be an ambassador and celebrate that.’
