President Draupadi Murmu congratulated everyone on the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda. President Murmu also announced the beginning of the year-long celebrations of the birth anniversary. In the post, Murmu said, “I see that a new consciousness is spreading across the country for tribal pride and the ideals of the Constitution. This consciousness is being converted into action. This feeling is for the bright future of the entire country including the tribal society. The foundation will be built. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ulihatu, President Murmu said, “Last year, on the occasion of ‘Tribal Pride Day’, Modi ji had also visited Ulihatu and taken the blessings of Lord Birsa Munda. That was the first visit of any Prime Minister to Ulihatu. The people of the tribal community were very happy with this. On the same day, ‘PM Tribal Justice Maha-Abhiyan’ i.e. PM-Janman was launched from Jharkhand.
Expressed happiness over inclusion of ‘Santhali’ in the Eighth Schedule
On inclusion of ‘Santhali’ in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, the President said that I am happy to say that I have also contributed in the efforts to include the tribal language ‘Santhali’ in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. This became possible during the tenure of respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji.
