Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Sardar Patel by reaching the Statue of Unity on the occasion of National Unity Day on Thursday.
National Unity Day is celebrated on 31 October to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
After paying tribute, PM Modi also administered the oath on Unity Day. During this, he observed the Unity Day Parade in which 16 marching contingents including nine states, one Union Territory Police, four Central Armed Police Forces, National Cadet Corps and one marching band participated. ‘Surya Kiran’ flypast of Indian Air Force will be the main attraction in the programme.
Earlier, PM Modi has wished Diwali to all the countrymen through social media platform X.
It is noteworthy that on the occasion of Diwali, PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Gujarat where on Wednesday he inaugurated several development projects in Kevadiya.
Here he unveiled schemes worth more than Rs 284 crore. The objective of these projects is to promote tourism in Kevadiya, improve the tourist experience and promote sustainable development efforts in the area.
Modi launched new tourism centers which will help boost the prestige of the Statue of Unity area in the world and provide world class facilities to the tourists visiting Unity City.
Earlier on Wednesday, PM Modi discussed with young civil servants about advancing governance through ‘public participation’ and encouraged them to work towards making the lives of citizens easier.
He said this while addressing the officer trainees of the 99th Common Foundation Course, ‘Aarambh 6.0’, organized at Ekta Nagar near the Statue of Unity.
The theme of this year’s program is ‘Roadmap for a Self-reliant and Developed India’, in which 653 officer trainees from 16 Indian civil services and three trainees from Bhutan are participating.
During this, PM Modi also inaugurated a four megawatt solar project worth Rs 23.26 crore that will take Ekta Nagar towards green energy.
