What happened to the Ganpati idol in Karnataka?

The Ganesh idol controversy started when a group of devotees tried to stage a protest against the allegations of stone pelting on the Ganesh idol immersion procession in Nagamangal taluk. The protest was organised by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Ganesh Utsav Samiti and the police initially refused to give permission to it.

During the protest, a three-star inspector was seen putting the Ganesha idol in a police van. He was placing the idol in the van which is used to detain protesters. The move caught the attention of the media. Seeing the protest, the police quickly shifted the idol to a police jeep and took the protesters into custody.
