PM Narendra Modi invited Zelensky to visit India, said- Russia-Ukraine should start talks without wasting time

Kyiv. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Ukraine after a two-day visit to Poland. He reached Kiev on Friday by Special Rail Force One. Here he met President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two leaders held a meeting for about three hours at the Mariinsky Palace. An agreement was reached between India and Ukraine to increase humanitarian aid, agriculture, medicine and cultural cooperation. Earlier, both the leaders reached the National Museum of Ukraine. They paid tribute to the children killed in the war. PM Narendra Modi placed a doll at the children’s memorial. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Kiev by train at 10 am Indian time. Here the people of the Indian community welcomed him with great enthusiasm. The PM also paid tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi in the Fomin Botanical Garden.

India has always been in favor of peace

During a conversation with Volodymyr Zelensky, PM Narendra Modi said that India has always been in favor of peace in war. He said, today is a historic day for the relations between India and Ukraine. For the first time, an Indian PM has visited Ukraine. Tomorrow (Saturday) is the National Day of Ukraine. We congratulate it and wish for peace.

Problems are solved through dialogue and diplomacy

PM Narendra Modi said that war does not solve the problem. It is solved through dialogue and diplomacy. Russia and Ukraine should talk to each other. He said, ‘India will play a major role in the efforts for peace. War is dangerous for children.’

Expressed gratitude to the President of Ukraine

Prime Minister Modi said that during the initial days of the war, Ukraine had helped in evacuating Indian citizens and students. I express my gratitude to you for your help in this time of crisis.

He said, ‘The world knows that India played two roles during the war. The first was the role of humanitarian approach.’ I assure you that India will always stand with you for whatever is needed from humanitarian point of view.
