A case of cheating people in the name of religion has come to light in the Philippines.
On Sunday, the Philippines police arrested self-proclaimed godman Apollo Quiboloy, a pastor at the Kingdom of Jesus Christ Church in the Philippines.
The 74-year-old priest is facing heinous charges like rape of minors, child sex trafficking, sexual crimes and human trafficking.
After battling his followers for two weeks, the police succeeded in arresting him on Sunday. During this operation, about 2 thousand police personnel and several helicopters were continuously engaged.
Apollo Quiboloy is a big religious name in the Philippines. His popularity can be gauged from the fact that the previous President of the Philippines was a very close friend of his.
Apollo began establishing his dominance as early as 1985, when he founded the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.
Today this organization has millions of followers not only in the Philippines but in more than 200 countries around the world. It used to promote itself as the son of God and used to guide people about Christianity.
Many disgusting allegations including sex trafficking
Apollo is accused of using religious influence to make hundreds of women and children his personal slaves and forcing them to do whatever he wanted.
According to reports, most of Apollo’s victims were minor children, who were recruited as his personal assistants and then he sexually exploited them.
In 2021, a case was filed against Apollo in America, according to which Apollo used to sexually harass his personal employees and threatened to burn them in the fire of hell if they refused. He used to make people write that they have dedicated their entire life and body to Apollo.
Now the alleged ‘Son of God’ is in police custody
Apollo was included in the most wanted list by the FBI in 2021 itself but due to his strong political support, he always remained safe.
But after receiving continuous complaints about his activities, the Philippines security forces raided the church. About 2000 soldiers surrounded the church for two weeks.
But his followers did not let him get arrested. They stood like a shield to protect him. The police also had to use thermal imaging and radar systems there before arresting him.
Police helicopters kept circling the entire campus. Then finally on Sunday night the police arrested him.
