Mumbai Praveen Lonkar, the third accused arrested in the murder case of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui in Maharashtra, has been sent to police custody. The police can interrogate the accused till October 21. According to the police, Praveen’s brother Shubham is associated with the jailed Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Bishnoi gang has murdered Baba Siddiqui.
After the name of Lawrence Bishnoi comes up in this high profile case, the police can interrogate him. Mumbai Police can seek permission to detain Lawrence from Sabarmati Jail and interrogate him, but there is a big catch in this. It is being said that Mumbai Police will not get the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi easily. Bishnoi’s name also came up in the case of death threat to Salman Khan and firing outside his house. Since then the police is seeking custody of Lawrence.
Experts believe that for the custody of Lawrence Bishnoi, Mumbai Police will have to take permission from the High Court. This is difficult. Mumbai Police wants to interrogate Lawrence Bishnoi in the firing case at Salman Khan’s house. Now the case of Baba Siddiqui murder case is big, hence Mumbai Police can get the custody of Lawrence, that too only after the permission of the Centre. Bishnoi is lodged in Sabarmati jail for the last one year. He has several cases registered against him in Punjab, Delhi, Gujarat and Mumbai, including murder, attempt to murder, extortion and drugs and arms smuggling.
Let us tell you that Lawrence Bishnoi was arrested by NIA in connection with terrorist funding to Khalistan supporters. The Center had invoked CrPC 268 following a request by the NIA. The CrPC 268 orders were to expire in August, but the Center extended the order by another year.
