Policeman and lifeguard arrested in attempted child kidnapping case

Panaji. Can you imagine that those who have the responsibility of security on their shoulders can commit a heinous crime like kidnapping. In fact, a similar case has come to light from Goa. An attempt was made to kidnap a one and a half year old child for ransom in Pernem, North Goa. In time, a police constable and a lifeguard have been arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping.
In this regard, Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi informed that Constable Nikesh Chari of the Indian Reserve Battalion of the state police and ‘Lifeguard’ Sanjay Narvekar of ‘Drishti Marine’ have been arrested from Kargaon on Saturday. Actually, on Friday night, the child was playing in the gallery of his house, when both Chari and Narvekar tried to kidnap him. Both of them reached there on a two-wheeler to carry out the crime. Chari picked up the child, meanwhile the grandfather of the child saw him and raised an alarm. Hearing the noise, the neighbors reached there. They caught Chari, but Narvekar managed to escape from the spot. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dalvi said that Narvekar, a resident of Vengurla in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra, was later arrested by the police. The arrested accused have confessed that their intention was to extort ransom from the child’s parents. A case has been registered against the accused and investigation has been started.
