Lahore. It is becoming difficult to live due to air pollution in Pakistan. The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Lahore has crossed 1000. Government officials have closed primary schools in Lahore for a week. Officials have said they want to protect children from being exposed to pollution many times the level considered dangerous. Lahore’s 14 million population has been surrounded by smog for several days. This pollution is a mixture of low-grade diesel fumes, smoke from seasonal stubble burning, and fog and pollutants caused by the cold of winter. According to the data, the air quality index crossed 1,000 on Saturday, well above the level of 300 considered dangerous. The Punjab government also recorded a caseload of more than 1,000 on Sunday, which it considered unprecedented. Lahore’s senior environmental protection officer Jahangir Anwar said the weather forecast for the next six days shows that the wind pattern will remain the same. Therefore, we are closing all government and private primary schools in Lahore for a week.
