Prime Minister Narendra Modi met his Italian counterpart Georgia Meloni on Monday.

During this, ways to deepen relations in the areas of security, trade and technology were discussed between the two.

PM Modi said in a post on X, ‘Pleased to meet Prime Minister Georgia Meloni during the Rio de Janeiro G20 Summit.

Our talks focused on deepening ties in the areas of defence, security, trade and technology.

We also talked about increasing cooperation in culture, education and other such areas. India-Italy friendship can contribute a lot to improving the planet.

The Ministry of External Affairs also posted about the meeting on Twitter. It said, ‘The strategic partnership is strengthening.

Prime Minister Modi met Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni on the sidelines of the G20 Brazil summit in Rio.

On behalf of the Ministry of External Affairs, it was said that the two leaders discussed further taking forward the long-term India-Italy bilateral relations.

To provide impetus to this, the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29 was welcomed. Pictures of the meeting between PM Modi and Meloni are out in which both the leaders are seen meeting very warmly.

PM Modi met many leaders in G-20 conference

PM Modi interacted with leaders of several countries including Brazil, Singapore and Spain during the G-20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian President Luis Inacio Lula da Silva warmly welcomed the Prime Minister, who is hosting the G-20 summit.

Modi reached Brazil after completing a two-day visit to Nigeria. He also met UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on the sidelines of the summit.

Modi also had talks with Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter, ‘Had a wonderful conversation with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.’
