Aman Sehrawat, the only male wrestler representing India in Paris, created history on Friday by winning the bronze medal in the 57 kg freestyle category. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Aman Sehrawat on Friday for winning the bronze medal.
Aman won India’s first medal in wrestling at the Paris Olympics. He defeated Puerto Rico’s Darian Toi Cruz 13-5 on points in the bronze medal match of the 57 kg freestyle category.

Modi wrote on ‘X’ that our wrestlers have made us even more proud. Congratulations to Aman Sehrawat for winning the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle 57 kg event at the Paris Olympics. He wrote that his dedication and perseverance are clearly visible. The whole country is celebrating this remarkable achievement.
India had sent six wrestlers to Paris
Aman first defeated North Macedonian opponent Vladimir Egorov 10-0 in the pre-quarterfinals, then defeated Albania’s Zelimkhan Abakarov 12-0 in the quarterfinals. India had sent six wrestlers to Paris, out of which only Aman has been able to win a medal.
Ritika will land today
Now only Ritika Hooda’s match is left in wrestling and she will enter the mat on Saturday. Ritika will challenge in the 76 kg freestyle category.
