President stressed on proper use of technical skills and knowledge in nation building

President arrives for the first time at the convocation ceremony of NIT Raipur

Governor Shri Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu also attended the convocation ceremony as special guests.

Today, 25th October, was a historic day for National Institute of Technology, Raipur. The President of the country, Smt. Draupadi Murmu graced the 14th convocation ceremony of the institute today and personally awarded gold medals to 12 promising students for their excellent academic achievements.

Governor Ramen Deka, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Union Minister of State Tokhan Sahu also attended the convocation ceremony as special guests.

In the convocation ceremony of NIT held today at Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium, Raipur, degrees were awarded to 1439 students who did graduate, post graduate and PhD from the institute in the year 2023-24. These include B.Tech. And B.Arch. Program K 1044, MCA and M.Tech. 225 students of the program and 170 students of PhD were included.

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu heartily congratulated the students for getting their degree from an excellent educational institution like NIT. Addressing the convocation, he told the students that today you are completing an important phase of your life and entering the second phase. You people have received special recognition on the basis of your hard work and talent. The encouragement of family and guidance of professors play a decisive role in the success of students. I also congratulate the families and professors of all the students.

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu said in her address that the development of technology depends on science. It will be helpful for all of you to stay abreast of cutting-edge scientific advances to make outstanding contributions to engineering. He said that India’s success in the field of digital inclusion has surprised the entire world. There are possibilities and capabilities to present other such examples in our country. Higher technical educational institutions like NIT Raipur and youth like you should have the enthusiasm to understand such possibilities and implement them. The more you broaden the scope of your contribution, the greater your personal growth. Big thinking gives rise to big aspirations. Only big aspirations take the form of impressive reality.

Motivating the students, the President said that people who continue to do their work with full devotion, morality and efficiency easily get the respect of people. You all keep moving forward on the path of duty with dedication. Success and prestige will follow you. He met former President and scientist Dr. A.P.J. Giving the example of Abdul Kalam, he said that working for the welfare of others makes personal life meaningful and social life better. Former President Dr. Kalam earned immense fame by using science and technology for the security of the country and social welfare.

President Smt. Murmu said in the convocation that the Government of India has launched the India Semiconductor Mission three years ago to make the country a global semiconductor manufacturing hub. Semiconductor industry is very important from the point of view of economic development, national security and technological self-reliance. Young engineers will get many opportunities for employment and start-ups in this industry. He said that the talented engineers of our country have established such unique enterprises which no one could have even imagined. On the strength of engineering talent pool like you, ambitious plans are being made in the country and they are being implemented. The President expressed hope that the youth will build a developed India. With the efforts of the youth, India will further strengthen its position in the world.

Addressing the convocation ceremony as a special guest, Governor Shri Ramen Deka said that today we are all together celebrating a historic occasion which is the result of years of hard work, patience and dedication of the students. Every student here has faced academic challenges, made friendships with classmates, and gone through wonderful experiences together that have brought them to where they are today. He extended his congratulations and best wishes to all the students who obtained their degrees today.

The Governor said that today the students are leaving here not only with knowledge, but also with the skills of mutual coordination, struggle and standing firm. These qualities will guide them in the world outside the four walls of the institute. Students will enter a unique world that is a time of unprecedented change, where their creativity and passion will play a vital role. The whole world will be looking towards these students to use their engineering and technology skills to solve unresolved global problems like climate change, poverty, global hunger, gender disparity, unequal income, unemployment etc.

Governor Shri Deka called upon the students to adopt moral and educational values ​​for success and reach new heights. He said that the present Central and State governments have made excellent efforts in the field of engineering and technology. The government of Chhattisgarh under the able leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai has done a lot of work to promote educational infrastructure. Besides, research and innovation in technical institutions is also being promoted in Chhattisgarh. The present government of the state has made various efforts to promote technical education and skill development. Also, the work force can be adapted to the needs of the industries. Partnership between educational institutions and industries is also being promoted for development and research in the technical field so that local solutions to regional problems can also be found.

Addressing the convocation ceremony of the National Institute of Technology as a special guest, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai described it as a historic and glorious day for the institute on the first visit of President Smt. Draupadi Murmu to the National Institute of Technology. He expressed his gratitude to the President that he has given two days of his precious time to the state to encourage the talents and citizens of Chhattisgarh. The Chief Minister congratulated all the graduate, post graduate and PhD students who received degrees from the National Institute of Technology. He said that this day is not only a day of getting a degree but also a day of getting ready to contribute one’s knowledge and skills to the country and society in the future.

The Chief Minister said that Chhattisgarh is an agricultural state. A large population here lives in villages and forests. This class is still facing many types of deprivations. Your knowledge and skills can bring a change in the lives of these people who are left behind in terms of convenience and prosperity. The Chief Minister also said that this state is rich in natural resources. There is a lot of potential for industrial development here. In this field also your knowledge and skills are very useful for the state. Our illustrious Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set a target of building a developed India by the year 2047. Accordingly, we have also resolved to build a developed Chhattisgarh. This resolution cannot be accomplished without your contribution.

Chief Minister Sai said that our country is going to become the third largest economy in the world. While strengthening the economy of Chhattisgarh, we are also preparing for a big boost in it. The country and the state have great expectations from young talents like you. Today the new National Education Policy has been implemented in the state. It emphasizes on knowledge as well as skill development among students. Our coming generation will be a technologically skilled and entrepreneurial generation. We are also modernizing 160 industrial training institutes of the state. Road, rail, air and communication networks are being expanded very rapidly in Chhattisgarh. In the coming days, we will have a huge team of youth who will be able to take this state to new heights of development with their knowledge, imagination and talent. Raipur NIT Board of Governors Chairman Dr. Suresh Haware and Director Dr. N.V. Ramana Rao also addressed the convocation ceremony. Members of the NIT Board of Governors, Senate members, Registrars, Deans, Heads of Departments and faculty members of the institute were also present at the function.

The President gave gold medals to these toppers with his own hands

President Smt. Draupadi Murmu presented gold medals to 11 toppers of various engineering streams of NIT for the year 2023. He presented two gold medals to Computer Science and Engineering and overall topper Yash Bansal of NIT. The President congratulated Bachelor of Architecture topper Ankit Mahobia, Bio Medical Engineering topper Ishika Jain, Bio Technology topper Sibbu Kumar Singh, Chemical Engineering topper Shikha Rai, Civil Engineering topper Muskan Agarwal, Electrical Engineering topper Shubham Agarwal, Electronics and Communication Gold medals were awarded to Engineering topper Abhishek Kumar, Information Technology topper Disha Jain, Meta and Materials Engineering topper Prakhar Jadhav and Mining Engineering topper Priyanshu Kumar.
