A 22-year-old Sikh youth was murdered in Canada.
According to the information, he was murdered with a sharp weapon on Wednesday in Edmonton parking lot in Alberta. The deceased has been identified as Jashandeep Singh Mann who had gone to Canada eight months ago as an international student.
Edmonton police have charged 40-year-old Edgar Wisker with second-degree murder. The report said Jashandeep was a resident of Badla village in Malerkotla, Punjab.
It was reported that a box cutter was used in the murder. Police said it appeared that the killer and the deceased were not previously acquainted.
This crime has happened suddenly due to some issue. The parents of the deceased have said that the Canadian administration should conduct a detailed investigation of this murder.
The deceased’s father Bharpur Singh said, we just want to know why the murder happened. He has ruined our world by taking Jashandeep away from us.
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee leader Preetipal Kaur Badla has demanded the central government to make arrangements to bring back the body from Canada.
The villagers have also appealed to Prime Minister Modi to take this matter to the diplomatic level. People demand that such incidents happening with students going abroad from India should be taken seriously.
Fatehgarh Sahib MP Dr Amar Singh Baporai claimed that he has discussed this matter with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
He said, after getting information about the incident, I have raised this matter with the Foreign Minister. He has assured that coordination will be done with the Canadian administration and the body will be brought back soon.
Let us tell you that last year in Edmonton itself, a Sikh youth and his 11-year-old son were murdered. The deceased was identified as Harpreet Singh Uppal.
Both were shot dead in broad daylight. On one hand, Canada was ready to blame India for the murder of Nijjar without thinking, while on the other hand, it seems to have a lax attitude towards the murder of Indians on its soil.
