New Delhi. Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has expressed concern over the incidents of mob lynching. He said that BJP governments are silent spectators to the attacks especially on Muslims. He made this comment in the wake of two incidents of mob violence in Haryana and Maharashtra. In Charkhi Dadri, Haryana, on August 27, a Muslim migrant from West Bengal was beaten to death by alleged cow protectors. He was attacked on the suspicion that he had eaten beef. One person was also injured in the attack. The former Congress president said in a post on ‘X’, “Hate elements hiding in the form of mobs are openly spreading violence, challenging the rule of law. These miscreants have got a free hand from the BJP government, so they have got the courage to do so.” He said that attacks on minorities, especially Muslims, are continuing and the government machinery is watching as a “mute spectator.”
In Maharashtra, an elderly man was molested and beaten up on suspicion of carrying beef in a train. He was going to Kalyan. Sharing ‘screenshots’ of both the incidents, Rahul said that people who climb the ladder of power by making hatred a political weapon are continuously establishing a reign of fear across the country. Videos of the incidents have gone viral on social media. Rahul said in the post that the law should be established by taking strict action against such ‘anarchist elements’. He said, “Any attack on the communal unity of India and the rights of Indians is an attack on the Constitution, which we will not tolerate at all. The Congress leader said, “No matter how much the BJP tries – we will win this historic battle to unite India against hatred at all costs.
