After the agreement between India and China regarding patrolling on the Line of Actual Control (LAC), Defense Minister Rajnath Singh termed it a major achievement.
He said that the country has achieved this success after long efforts. While interacting with Army personnel at Meghna Stadium in Tezpur, Assam on Wednesday, Rajnath Singh said, “I want to congratulate everyone because recently there has been an important development on the border. “Negotiations have been going on between India and China at diplomatic and military levels for many years, and finally we have been able to reach success.”
Praising the bravery and dedication of the soldiers, he said, “This is no small achievement. We have achieved this milestone because of your (Army soldiers) courage and devotion to duty.
“Talks with China became possible only when everyone recognized your bravery and bravery.” The Defense Minister also said that India wants to have good relations with its neighboring countries, but if necessary, it will also fight to protect its borders.
On Wednesday, Indian Army sources said that the process of withdrawal of troops between India and China in Depsang and Demchok areas of eastern Ladakh has been completed.
India was working towards resolving this dispute to restore the situation before April 2020. On October 21, India signed an agreement with China for patrolling the LAC, ending the military standoff that had been going on for the last four years.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the BRICS summit in Russia, where the two leaders welcomed the consensus on patrolling arrangements along the LAC.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh was scheduled to visit Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh today, but due to bad weather, his visit was diverted to Assam.
He told the soldiers, “I consider myself fortunate that I got the opportunity to be among you on the eve of Diwali. I was supposed to be in Tawang today, but perhaps God wanted me to celebrate Diwali with you in Tezpur.”
Following the tradition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this year too senior defense officials of the country are celebrating Diwali with the soldiers deployed at various places. Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan celebrated Diwali with troops at Andaman and Nicobar Command.
Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Tripathi celebrated the festival with naval personnel at Porbandar, Gujarat, which witnesses incidents of suspicious activities and smuggling from Pakistan.
Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh is celebrating Diwali with the troops deployed in Jammu and Kashmir region. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The happiness of any festival increases when it is celebrated with family. The bigger the family, the greater the happiness. So, I try to celebrate Diwali with my big family – the armed forces family.”
