Dhaka. Amidst the chaos in Bangladesh, an interim government has been formed in which Nobel Prize winner Muhammad Yunus has been made the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. President Muhammad Shahabuddin announced Yunus as PM after talking to 13 members of the coordination board of the student movement. The chiefs of the three armies were also present in this conversation. Earlier, the President had dissolved the country’s Parliament, which has now cleared the way for new general elections.
Bangladesh’s newly appointed PM Yunus has welcomed the removal of the Hasina government and said that this is like the second independence of Bangladesh. Yunus was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his efforts to eradicate poverty through Grameen Bank. Dozens of cases were registered against Yunus after Sheikh Hasina came to power in 2009.
