Resolution passed to end Israel’s illegal presence in Palestinian territories

Geneva. Voting was held on the resolution related to Palestine in the United Nations General Assembly. India did not participate in it. India did not participate in the voting on the resolution in the UNGA which demanded that Israel remove its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory within 12 months without any delay. The 193-member General Assembly accepted the resolution. 124 countries voted in favor of the resolution. In this, 14 voted against and 43 countries including India did not participate in it. Israel and America were among the countries that voted against the resolution.
The resolution passed on Wednesday demanded that Israel remove its illegal presence in the occupied Palestinian territory without delay. This should be done within 12 months of the adoption of the current resolution. The resolution prepared by Palestine also strongly condemned the Israeli government’s disregard for its obligations under the UN Charter, international law and relevant UN resolutions. It was emphasized that such violations pose a serious threat to regional and international peace and security. It said that Israel should be held accountable for any violation of international law in the occupied Palestinian territory.
