Washington. Regarding the outcome of the US presidential election, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar has said that the outcome of the election will not have much impact on the relations between India and America. He said that despite the results of the elections, there is a possibility of America’s global interference and an isolationist trend in its foreign policy.
Jaishankar made this statement at an event in Canberra on Wednesday when the results of the presidential election were being counted in the US, in which there is a tough competition between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris. Jaishankar said the US election results are unlikely to lead to any major changes in US long-term foreign policy. Particularly since Barack Obama, the US has shown greater caution about its global commitments. He gave the example of the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan and said that such isolation may continue in US policy in the future.
He said that if Donald Trump becomes president, his policies may become more clear, but we must look and understand America beyond the ideas of the current administration. The global dominance and generosity that America enjoyed in the beginning may not remain in the future. This statement of Jaishankar points towards the changing foreign policy of America, which mostly focuses on domestic affairs and national interests. Jaishankar also mentioned that relations between India and America will become stronger in the future. During this, the Foreign Ministers of Australia and New Zealand also said that their countries will have to take steps to create an environment according to their wishes at the global level. New Zealand’s Foreign Minister Winston Peters said that the world we were trying to create is changing and we have to respond to it.
