Kolkata . There is chaos again in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital which came into news after the rape-murder of a trainee doctor. Actually this time the doctors of the hospital have been accused of delaying the treatment of the youth. Actually, 28-year-old Bikram Bhattachaj of Konnagar in Hooghly district was crushed by a truck on Friday. He died in the medical college.
After the death of the young man, a ruckus started. Deceased Bikram’s mother Kavita alleges that there was no doctor present in the emergency, due to which the treatment was delayed and later the son died. According to Kavita, a lot of time was wasted. His surgery should have been done within that time. But no doctor was available there. Not even an emergency doctor.
However, RG Kar officials have denied the family’s claims. Officials claimed that Bikram was rushed to trauma care immediately after he was brought to RG Kar. He had serious injuries on two of his limbs. Apart from this, they found that he also had a serious injury on his head. Vikram was taken for a CT scan. While the CT scan was being planned, Bikram started having trouble breathing and died.
On this incident, TMC leader and MP Abhishek Banerjee said that a young boy lost his life in a road accident on Friday. He had to remain without any treatment for 3 hours and during this time he kept bleeding. This is the result of the protest by doctors in response to the RG Kar incident.
He said, the demands of the junior doctors are both reasonable and legitimate. I urge them to protest in a way that does not disrupt essential medical services.
