Russia gave clarification on Indians joining the army, S Jaishankar had said this; Embassy told since when the recruitment was stopped…

A new statement has come from the Russian Army regarding Indians fighting the war in Ukraine.

The Russian embassy has said that all the Indians had joined the Russian army voluntarily. The work of identifying these people and sending them back to India is being done rapidly.

The Russian Embassy expressed condolences over the unfortunate incidents of casualties among Indians during the conflict and said that the recruitment of Indians in its armed forces has been stopped since April.

Earlier, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said that Indians were deceitfully taken abroad in the name of getting good jobs.

After this, they were sent to the Russian army to fight the war. Jaishankar had said that India is not on anyone’s side in the Russia-Ukraine war.

In a statement, the embassy said Moscow and New Delhi are working towards the prompt identification and release of Indian citizens who voluntarily joined the contractual military service and now wish to return home.

The statement also said that all the terms and conditions of the contract will be fulfilled and they will be given full compensation.

The Russian embassy statement said that since April this year, the Russian Defence Ministry has stopped recruiting citizens of several other countries, including India, into military service.

He said that the Russian army is not a part of any such campaign in which people from other countries are promised jobs there. Such campaigns can be fraudulent.

Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also said in his statement that the CBI is investigating such cases. The investigation has revealed the involvement of some human traffickers.

According to this, Indians were mislead by saying that they will be given good jobs abroad. After this, they were taken and recruited in the Russian army.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said in the Lok Sabha on Friday that a total of 91 Indians were deployed in the Russian army. Of these, eight have died so far.

The other 14 people were either released by the army or managed to return to India with other help. According to the Foreign Minister, a total of 69 Indian citizens are currently waiting to be released from service by the Russian army.

PM Modi, who visited Russia last month, also raised this issue in his meeting with President Putin.
