Ukraine celebrated its Independence Day on Saturday amid the ongoing war. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine intensified again. Both attacked each other with drones and missiles on Saturday. A woman was killed and a man was injured in Russian army shelling on Kherson.
Ukraine attacked with cruise missiles
The Ukrainian air force said it destroyed seven drones. Russian long-range bombers attacked the area of the Snake Island with four cruise missiles, while Kherson was also hit by air strikes.
People injured in drone attack
Five drones were shot down in the southwestern Voronezh region bordering Ukraine, injuring two people, regional governor Alexander Gusev said. Videos are also circulating of an ammunition depot exploding after being hit by a drone. Two people were injured in a drone attack in the Belgorod region bordering Ukraine.
Zelensky made a new move
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday signed several laws against Russia, including ratifying the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Kiev says this will increase the possibility of prosecuting war crimes committed by Russia.

At the same time, after talks mediated by the United Arab Emirates, Russia and Ukraine have agreed to exchange 115-115 prisoners. There has been no immediate comment from Russian and Ukrainian officials. This will be the seventh such exchange since the Russia-Ukraine conflict in February 2022.
